Box Flute InfoRelaxation while Building on the Fundamentals of Breathwork
What is a Box Flute? Our Box Flutes are Steve Olson's Original Design! Influenced by his love of Native American tunings and breathwork, our flutes allow the player to relax just about anywhere with ease of play. We offer several keys, scales, to chose from. Soprano B, Alto G, Tenor F, Bass C# and D.
Our customers have taken them hiking through the Rockies and other mountain ranges across the USA. They've gone biking, on RV trips, and found their place in the Tiny House Movement. One of our patrons uses her flute to commune with backyard owls with success! |

Flute Sound Clips
Click on the link above and you'll find more Box Flute sound clips. You'll see the Stick Dulcimers first :) This is a clip of Ethany playing a Tenor F Box Flute. It's one of our favorite keys. Even with being nervous playing, she is still able to create a peaceful sound and find ease with her breath. Scale first, then improv from the heart...aka the heart song.
How to Play the Box Flute - Basics 101
Start by covering all the finger holes. Gently blow into your flute. You want to hear a clear and steady note. Then begin to lift your fingers off the finger holes starting with the farthest finger hole away from you on the right hand side. Continue up the right hand side and then start on the left with the finger hole farthest away from you. (See Chart) To go back down the scale simply recover the finger holes in descending order. Ethany is demonstrating playing the scale in the video above.
